It's Christmas in March!

So last November I bought a kit to do this Christmas tree quilt. I saw it hanging in up in Needles and Pins and I loved it. I never got around to making it last December (wonder why?) and so it has sat on my shelf in the bag since then. I thought I'd try to make it for the next holiday. Well, then our ward is having a talent show tomorrow, and I said that I'd display a quilt. Ok, well, the problem with that is that the only display worthy quilt that I had on hand I had just given to Natalie for her baby. So I figured I had other wall hangings that I could do if I couldn't throw something together in time, but that I would try something. I looked through my stash, because another requirement was that I was not allowed to buy any new fabric. So then I thought I'd try this. It was actually not too bad to do, just three different sets of strips.
I quilted it in a silver thread, and that was a mistake. It looks nice, but it broke 4 needles in the process, and broke about a billion times. Then, since I'm such a glutton for punishment I also decided to use the same silver tread along with this variegated holiday thread to do a hand quilted embellishment on the border. I didn't think I would ever finish it. Both of these threads are difficult to work with individually, but together, wow. Shoot me now. But I finished. I even put a hanging sleeve on the back of it. Something I've never done before. I don't have a place to hang it, or something to hang it with, but maybe one day in the future I will. It's kind of a weird size. Too small for a lap quilt, but still kind of large.
So anyway, that is my latest quilt. I just finished the binding tonight, just in time for the talent show tomorrow.

I'll have to see how you quilt things the next time I come out. It looks like you're getting pretty good at it. I'm impressed with the lights. My machine quilting looks ridiculous.
